As per GSA's original Request for Proposals on the project, dated December 2003, the estimated construction cost for the entire endeavor is in the $110 to $130 million range.

Located in the city's central business district at the intersection of 18 and F streets, just blocks from the White House, 1801 F Street boasts a listing on the National Register of Historic Places. The property was developed in 1917 as the headquarters for the Department of the Interior, which continues to call the structure home today. The design phase of the project is scheduled for completion in February, and the new building is on the calendar for occupancy in 2009.
