The plant is expected to employ up to 45 in the first year of operation. The facility will have state-of-the-art technology for the precision fabrication and fitting of a variety of wood products.

"This plant, like our existing facilities, is being built on the principles of lean manufacturing," says Tom Cook, executive vice president and general manager at Medallion. The facility will be located at 15 Somsen St. and is projected to be operational before Dec. 31.

Medallion, which is part of the Elkay Manufacturing family of companies, offers more than 1,400 combinations of door styles, wood species and color finishes in semi-custom cabinetry through kitchen and bath design centers and dealers nationwide. Medallion employs more than 620 in Waconia, and an additional 360 in Independence, OR.
