POWAY, CA-Eight months after Stowe Properties LLC broke ground on its Stowe Plaza retail project, the developer has completed construction of the 12,000-sf, $2.5-million complex that is located in South Poway. Encompassing a total of 12,000 sf, Stowe Plaza is occupied by dining establishments and other ancillary services, such as a hair salon and dry cleaners. “Approximately half of the tenants are restaurants,” says Nathan Ouren, a project designer with KMA Architecture & Engineering, which provided architecture and planning services for the retail center. The anchor tenants here are Subway, which occupies 1,400 sf, and the dental offices of Dr. Nguyen DDS, with 1,170 sf, according to Ouren. Other occupants include Hong Kong Express, Top of the Bagel, and Taco Del Mar. The complex has leased up fairly quickly, as Ouren tells GlobeSt.com that only two retail units, encompassing 1,060 sf each, were available here as of last month. Located at Scripps Poway Parkway and Stowe Drive, the center is situated in an industrial area of South Poway. This section of Poway includes the 900-acre South Poway Business Park, where most of the city’s office and industrial growth is occurring. “We tried to make it (Stowe Plaza) a more contemporary building to fit in with the tilt-up, concrete, industrial park that it’s located in,” Ouren tells GlobeSt.com. Design characteristics include cubic forms, offsets and tall accent blades. In addition, both of the anchor stores have cantilevered front entrances. The property also features special events facilities and accessible pedestrian walkways that connect the businesses.
