HOLLYWOOD, FL-The international firm Kobi Karp Architecture & Design was selected to be the architect for Hollywood Station, a mixed-use urban community being developed here. Meanwhile, the project is preparing to open its information center the last week of September.The project, to be located on the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and South Dixie Highway, entails three phases. The first phase consists of a 10-story, U-shaped building with 214 one-, two- and three-bedroom condominiums, as well as ground-floor retail space–a bank, a restaurant, antique stores and a café. The expected price range is from the high $100,000s to the $400,000s. The approximate sellout value for phase one of Hollywood Station is $68 million.First-phase construction is set to begin in spring 2005 and be completed in summer 2006. The entire project will have 500 residential units and 15,000 sf of retail space on four city blocks. The units will include condos, town homes and lofts.Kobi Karp is designing the modern buildings at different heights and unique architectural themes. In addition, he has integrated art ideas into the buildings’ design, as the development site is adjacent to art galleries on Harrison Street. Karp, president and CEO of the Miami-based company, also is adding a ground-floor promenade and several seating areas to create a pedestrian-friendly space.Cornerstone Premier Communities, the luxury residential arm of Coral Gables-based Cornerstone Group, is Hollywood Station’s developer.
