$20M Condo to Replace Parking Lot in Historic Neighborhood

BALTIMORE-Mount Vernon-Belvedere Association gave its approval, paving the way for a Charles Street parcel that is currently home to a parking lot to become the base for development of an $83-million condominium building in the city’s historic Mount Vernon community, a National Register Historic District. Struever Bros., Eccles & Rouse and Aegon Insurance Group have joined forces to develop the $20-million project.

In addition to the residences, which will occupy four above-ground levels, the six-story property will also feature 15,000 sf of retail space, as well as a parking facility to accommodate vehicles in a partially above-ground space just beneath the residential element. With its location on the 1200 block of Charles Street, the building will sit just two blocks away from Penn Station and, according to SBE&R, will thereby offer “tremendous opportunity for rail commuters, and direct corridor access to downtown’s Central Business District, the University of Baltimore and Johns Hopkins University.”
