Tenants already on board include a 16-screen Century movie theater, a Home Depot, an existing Foley's department store, and Wild Oats headquarters and flagship store. And in typical Boulder style, the new development will be built in an energy-efficient, sustainable manner. For example, Westcor plans to recycle 80% of the existing building materials.

Twenty Ninth Street, which sits on 62 acres, will be broken into three separate "neighborhoods," allowing complementary tenants, such as food courts, to be clustered together. As part of the plan Walnut Street will be extended and a new section of Canyon Street will be linked to the city's grid, making it accessible to pedestrians, buses and automobiles.

Westcor, a wholly owned subsidiary of Macerich Co., describes the architecture as "contemporary," with an extensive use of natural, local materials such as brick, stone and wood.
