GlobeSt.com UPDATE: Tentative Agreement Averts Building Maintenance Strike

NEW YORK CITY-Local 32BJ of the Service Employees International Union and the Realty Advisory Board shook hands this morning on a tentative pact that will earn building works a 4% increase per year and a fully sponsored healthcare plan.

NEW YORK CITY-The looming strike by members of Local 32BJ of the Service Employees International Union was averted in the small hours of the early morning. A fully sponsored healthcare package and a 4% per annum increase were the twin drivers in bringing negotiations between the union and the Realty Advisory Board to a peaceful end. The RAB spoke for the building management industry.

As GlobeSt.com reported last week, on Sept. 22, thousands of cleaners in New Jersey, Connecticut, Long Island and Westchester had authorized the same strike action if talks with management failed to produce what they called an “acceptable contract agreement ensuring affordable, quality health coverage.”
