The Mount Laurel, NJ-based company says that by the end of this year, there will be ten Hollywood Tans salons operating in the Greater Boston market. Other stores in the area include one in Billerica in the Treble Cove Plaza at 199 Boston Rd.; in Quincy at 115 Parkingway; and, in Natick in Sherwood Plaza at 1300 A1 Worcester Street. A fifth location in Brighton at 470 Washington St. is opening shortly. The company is also planning to open stores in Brookline, Somerville and Woburn.

"Boston has long been underserved in regards to a professional, salon-type tanning facility," explains Michael Cooley, general manager for Beantan LLC, a Rosemont, PA-based company. Jerry Holtz is the other partner in the venture. There are currently more than 200 Hollywood Tans franchises across the country.

Jim DeLorenzo, a spokesperson for Beantan tells GlobeSt.com that a typical Hollywood Tan store is between 2,000 to 2,500 sf. DeLorenzo says that the company is still looking for the right locations for the planned stores. He notes that the stores are generally located in high-traffic areas with good quality store chains, such as Starbucks, in the immediate vicinity. "The idea is to build operations in communities that haven't been serviced yet," says DeLorenzo.
