GSA's inventory of leased space encompasses 155 million sf of office space across the US, including Puerto Rico, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, the Virgin Islands and Palau. Under the contract, the four brokerage firms involved will be paid via commissions from the property owners, not the government.

"Awarding a limited number of broker service contracts under one national contract ensures that GSA will provide consistent, high-quality services nationwide to federal agencies that rely on GSA for lease acquisition," says PBS deputy commissioner Anthony Costa. "We are confident that this contract will serve as a useful tool in delivering superior workplaces and supporting the GSA strategic goal of providing best value for federal customer agencies and the American taxpayer."

The contract is reflective of GSA's goal of downsizing operations, eliminating overlapping duties and standardizing procedures.
