Town Meeting Approval Paves Way for 190,500-SF Center

BURLINGTON, MA-Burlington Town Meeting approves the rezoning of the former Raytheon property on Wayside Road. The decision allows Patriot Partners to move ahead with its plans to develop Wayside Commons, a 190,500-sf shopping center, on the site.

BURLINGTON, MA-Burlington Town Meeting members approved the rezoning of the former Raytheon property on Wayside Road. The decision enables Patriot Partners to move ahead with its plans to develop a 190,500-sf shopping center on the site.

Patriot acquired the property nearly five years ago. In 2002, the site was rezoned to allow the development of two 300,000-sf office buildings. However, because of the depressed office market, Patriot decided to seek a zoning change for retail use. According to the most recent statistics from Trammell Crow Co., the town’s overall availability rate for office space is at nearly 40%.
