University Launches $250M Dorm Project

ANN ARBOR, MI-The University of Michigan says it will build the school's first new dorm building in 37 years, as well upgrade five others. Construction on the new dorm will start by 2006.

ANN ARBOR, MI-The University of Michigan is launching a 10-year, $250-million to $280-million program to upgrade five dormitories and build the first new one in 37 years. The new dorm will house 500 to 650 students in apartment-style suites with private bathrooms, the university says.

A location is not yet determined. It will be financed through bonds, fee increases and the university’s housing budget.
