Alticor Partners With Marriott on Hotel

GRAND RAPIDS, MI-Alticor officials believe the Marriott name will drive travelers to its new hotel on Pearl Street at Campau Avenue. The 300 to 400 rooms will be ready in 2007.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI-Developers of an upscale Downtown hotel are banking on the prestige of Marriott International Inc.’s name tosteer convention-goers and other business travelers to their posh digs. Alticor Inc. officials, developers of the new hotel, said this week a licensing agreement with Marriott for their new building on Pearl Street at Campau Avenue.

The hotel, which will welcome its first guests in 2007, will be owned and operated by Alticor and its Amway Hotel Corp. subsidiary, which also operates the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel, but take advantage of Marriott’s name recognition, Alticor officials say. Once completed, the new hotel, initiated by Alticor co-founders Jay Van Andel and Rich DeVos, will give Grand Rapids two first-class Downtown hotels.
