Former Cushman & Wakefield senior directors Ben Eisenberg and Walter Byrd have joined Trammell Crow as senior vice presidents in the company's local office. In their new role, they are leading the company's industrial brokerage practice in South Florida. In addition, Thomas Kresse and their marketing assistant, Valderine Preal, have joined Trammell Crow from Cushman and Wakefield.
The moves mark the second time a senior director departed from Cushman & Wakefield in the area in the past three months. The other was John Bell, who left the company in the summer after 15 years. As senior vice president, Bell leads Trammell Crow's investment sales practice in South Florida and is working to grow its presence in Florida.
Donald Cartwright, South Florida area director for Trammell Crow, says the company's changes were nothing intentional with Cushman & Wakefield, rather the company was looking for strong executives. "Their coming on board was … a result of our goals to find a top industrial team, and they both have long, distinguished careers in South Florida in the industrial leasing investment market," he says. "And of course, along with them came some of their staff."
Trammell Crow is planning to grow its industrial business significantly in South Florida. "Our revenue will be expanded significantly in the industrial area in South Florida over the next five years," Cartwright adds. "We're crafting our five-year plan" now. "We did not have the industrial presence that Trammell Crow is known for across the country."
"In the case of John Bell, we were looking to bring on a very, very high-level investment specialist," he says. "That was a conscious effort to really attract one of the top professionals in the Southeast."
"I was not surprised by the decision of any of the departures," says Tere Blanca of Cushman & Wakefield. "Cushman & Wakefield retains South Florida's most productive brokers in every category, including in the industrial sector with Wayne Ramoski/Brian Smith in Miami and Chris Metzger/Rick Etner in Broward/Palm Beach."
Eisenberg and Byrd have 34 years of commercial real estate experience combined. They have completed leasing and sales transactions aggregately valued at more than $400 million, focusing on logistics companies and vacant land. The team also has handled several significant office leasing deals, including Starboard Cruise Services' 40,000-sf corporate headquarters lease and more than 60,000 sf for Crispin Porter + Bogusky.
