SAUGUS, MA-Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. is leasing 27,285 sf at Saugus Plaza, a 209,445-sf center located at the intersection of Route One and Route 129 on Walnut Street. Don Mace, vice president at Finard & Co. and the firm's director of leasing, negotiated the transaction. Federal Realty Investment Trust acquired the property in 1996.

Saugus Plaza has recently undergone a campaign to retenant the property after Ames went under and closed its doors at the center. Kohl's, the department store chain, opened an 87,000-sf store at the location this past April. Famous Footwear signed a lease for a 7,490-sf store this past spring. Other major tenants at the center include Wild Oats Market, Brooks Pharmacy, Work N Gear, Dots and CardSmart. The plaza has two remaining vacancies of 4,500 sf and 12,000 sf.

Founded in 1971, Bed Bath & Beyond is a nationwide chain selling domestic merchandise and home furnishings. The company has more than 600 stores across the country.
