WILMINGTON, MA-Apparently 1.1 million sf retail and entertainment complex is not big enough for Mills Corp. The Arlington, VA-based mall developer, which is building the shopping center in Tewksbury, is getting ready to propose building two hotels here.

Bob Douglas, Wilmington’s assistant director of conservation planning, tells GlobeSt.com that Mills has not made a formal proposal, but has indicated to the town that it wants to build two hotels on part of the 38-acre parcel that it is acquiring to build the mall. Part of that property that Mills will buy from Perkins Development Trust if its plan for the mall is fully permitted is in Wilmington. The hotels will reportedly each consist of 120 rooms. Douglas notes that the property in Wilmington is currently largely wooded.
