OAKDALE, MN-The Robert Muir Co. has begun building a 206,000-sf retail project called Oakdale Village at the northwest corner of the intersection of Interstate 94 and Inwood Avenue. The Edina-based developer says it has leases, letters of intent and prelease commitments for more than 90% of the space in its newest retail center.
"We have signed agreements or are in the process of finalizing agreements with Best Buy, Sportmart, HomeGoods, David's Bridal, Baja Fresh, Buffalo Wild Wings, Caribou Coffee, two additional 20,000-sf anchors and two national restaurants which will be announced in the near future," says Kelly Doran, president of Muir.
Originally planned as a lifestyle center to be called the Shoppes at Tamarack, the concept and name changed about 18 months ago after Opus Corp. and RED Development successfully attracted a significant portion of key national tenants to a proposed new lifestyle center, Woodbury Lakes, located across I-94 from the Oakdale site. The Robert Muir Co. altered its plans after identifying a market for "upscale power center" tenants. Plans call for a cobblestone center street, textured and patterned sidewalks, stone and brick storefront facades, accent lighting, canopies, four plazas with seating areas and extensively landscaping.
The Robert Muir Co. owns and manages more than two million sf of retail properties throughout the Twin Cities metro area.
