The new dorm is expected to be completed by 2008 and will be the first new dorm built by Michigan since 1967. There is no estimate of the cost yet. However, Michigan officials recently estimated that a plan to build a new dorm and improve five existing residence halls over the next 10 years would cost between $250 million and $280 million.

The Frieze Building currently is used by seven academic departments, which will be relocated to other buildings on the Ann Arbor campus.
