Life Sciences Firm Leaves Virginia for Maryland

ROCKVILLE, MD-Signing a letter of intent, Canon US Life Sciences Inc. has committed to relocating to office and lab space vacated by Human Genome Sciences in the 318,000-sf, multi-structure Shady Grove Life Science Center. Canon will leave its current digs on Washington Blvd. in Arlington, VA, where it has made its home since its inception in late 2002.

The leasing arrangement allows Canon the option of occupying as much as 35,000 sf of space that once housed HGS, which will consolidate its offices at a new headquarters location in the city. Scheer Partners Inc. handles leasing activity at Shady Grove and markets space at the park for about $32.50 per sf; further detail on Canon’s lease are unavailable.
