AAC president and chief executive officer Christof Traidl says the plant would be expanded to include a new gear set machining and assembly operation. AAC's new plant in Kings Mountain will do assemblywork.
AAC now has about 100 hourly production employees. The company says that number should grow to about 500 total by the end of next year.Traidl announced the plans for the expanded and new operations at a joint press conference with the United Auto Workers. AAC and the UAW signed a new national agreement that will cover all AAC plants in thecountry.
"With a national agreement, you spend less time in negotiations and more time focused on the business at hand," UAW president Ron Gettelfinger says. Redford Township is in Wayne County.
