Kevin Hodges, a founding principal of Cresa Partners in Houston with more than 16 years of experience, has taken on a senior managing director role, along with Rand Stephens, a managing partner in Houston-based Blackstone Partners. Stephens' team at Blackstone--Josh LaRocca, Chris Torn and Scott Torn--accepted managing director positions.
"These five professionals are the first brokers to join us since we launched," says Steven Biegel, senior vice president and co-branch manager for Studley's Houston office. "All of them have established relationships with Houston companies and bring great synergies to Studley."
Hodges resigned from Cresa Partners about two months ago to pursue other opportunities. At Studley, he will focus on representing office users. Art Baylis now serves as the managing principal for the local Cresa office. Cresa did not return telephone calls for comment prior to publication time.
About two months ago, industry experts began speculating about whether or not Blackstone Partners, which was launched two years ago by Stephens and his team after they left InSite Commercial Real Estate in Houston, would join Studley. With the decision now made, Blackstone Partners will be dissolved.
"When they formed their own firm, I think they had in mind to later on join a firm with a national platform," Biegel tells GlobeSt.com. "They chose Studley and they have officially joined the firm."
Stephens and his team will focus on office and industrial tenant representation. "We didn't have any industrial expertise in our Houston office and (the former Blackstone group) are a great addition to our service base," Biegel says. "We want to be selective and limit the number of brokers we add to the office. These guys were the right fit."
