State Strikes Lease Deals for 120,000 SF

LANSING, MI-The state takes out two leases Downtown, one at $23.18 per sf, the other at $16.20 per sf. The Department of Community Health's lease of 78,200 sf is expected to increase foot traffic at the 135,000-sf Boji Tower under construction at 217 Townsend St.

LANSING, MI-The Michigan Department of Community Health will move 600 workers from north Lansing to two Downtown locations by Nov. 1, 2005. The state agreed to lease 78,500 sf of the 135,000-sf Boji Tower under construction at 217 Townsend St. at $23.18 per sf and 42,500 sf of the 55,000-sf Gentilozzi building at 109 E. Michigan Ave. at $16.20 per sf.

About 400 state employees will work at Boji Tower. The state hasn’t yet determined which departments will go in each building. The Gentilozzi building will house about 200 state workers.

The current Community Health Department workplace at 3423 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. will be renovated, and the state’s Military and Veterans Affairs Department will move into that building. The cost of the renovation wasn’t immediately available.
