Wacoal Expands to 66,000 SF

NEW YORK CITY-In another case of taking an early renewal, the intimate apparel manufacturer inks a 15-year deal and grabs an additional 16,500 sf in the site. The space is being used for its US corporate headquarters and showroom space.

NEW YORK CITY-Wacoal America Inc. signed a 15-year lease extension and expansion at 136 Madison Ave. in Murray Hill. The international intimate apparel manufacturer has extended its commitment and leased an additional 16,500 sf at the site on the northwest corner of East 31st Street. The expansion space will house the company’s US corporate headquarters and redesigned showroom space.

The company, a tenant since 1996, now has a total of 66,000 sf. Wacoal previously occupied the entire ninth, 10th and 15th floors of the 272,000-sf 136 Madison Ave., comprising 49,500 sf of space. While the firm’s existing lease was due to expire in 2007, it also required additional space for its growing business. Wacoal now is able to expand its presence by taking the entire 14th floor of the property. Floorplates in the site range from 16,500 on the upper levels of the 17-story site and 18,500 sf on the lower floors.
