FREDERICK, MD-The space vacated by discount retail store Ames at the 217,500-sf Frederick Shopping Center has now been designated as a new home for Ashley Furniture. The Arcadia, WI-based international home furnishings manufacturer signed a lease with property owner JBG Rosenfeld Retail to occupy the 62,000-sf space.
JBGR leasing agents were unavailable to provide information regarding the terms of the lease agreement and leasing rates at the property; however, according to NAI Direct, space at neighborhood shopping centers in Suburban Maryland is marketed for anywhere from $15 to $30 per sf.
Located on W. 7th St. near I-270, Frederick Shopping Center has been serving area residents for the last four decades. The property, which underwent a renovation in 1990, boasts a varied tenant roster that features anchor tenant Giant Eagle grocery store, which occupies 52,000 sf. Other occupants include CVS, Hallmark, Papa John's Pizza, Sherwin-Williams paint store, and Chevy Chase Bank, which just signed on to occupy a new 3,000-sf pad site at the center.
