"We strive to provide our guests with the best experience possible when they attend events at The Palace," says Tom Wilson, president and chief executive officer of the Pistons and Palace Sports and Entertainment. "Over the years, we have put more than $50 million back into the facility to keep it the nation's finest. We see the start of Pistons season as the beginning of our yearly cycle, so we focus our energies to have the building in utmost preparation for the opening tip."

On the outside, there has been extensive refurbishing of the on-site parking lot allowing up to 700 additional vehicles. The project also involved landscaping enhancements surrounding the building, on the perimeter grounds and berms throughout the lot, and a large-scale resurfacing and re-lining of the parking areas.

Visitors will also see a new Palace Hall of Fame window exhibit located on the exterior of the building between the atrium and administration entrances. The Terrace Club, located above the east entrance, will be renamed "Captain's Quarters" after Captain Morgan's Rum as part of a sponsorship agreement with Diageo.

The arena's centerpiece, its "Palace Chandelier" scoreboard, has been enhanced with the addition of two rings of interactive, custom-made Daktronics Pro-Ad video signage. A ring added above the board is 19inches high and 86.6 feet in circumference and a ring below the scoreboard is 19 inches by 45 feet.

A new audio system has also been installed. The computer-controlled system provides better coverage and a higher fidelity for both voice and music.

PS&E ownership includes The Palace and DTE Energy Music Theatre. The organization also manages the Meadow Brook Music Festival on the campus of Oakland University. Combined, PS&E's Michigan venues average 300 events and 3.5 million guests annually.
