Implosion Moves $50M Project Forward

BELCAMP, MD-It is out with the old and in with the new at the site of the Waters Edge Corporate Campus–the 400,000-sf mixed-use project that is currently in the development phase at Rte. 40 and Bata Blvd.–as developers Manekin LLC and Clark Turner Cos. demolish the former Bata Shoe Co. factory on the site. The cleared land will serve as additional space for the remaining construction of the $50 million business park, which will ultimately feature eight retail/service buildings and four office structures.

The five-story factory, once a bustling hub for as many as 3,400 workers, closed its doors and relocated in 1999; it had been a fixture on the property for the last 65 years.
