Stamping Company Embarks on $7M Expansion

DECKERVILLE, MI-Trim Trends will expand its metal stamping plant with a $300,000 Michigan Economic Development Corp. grant, one of several in a $2-million package recently released.

DECKERVILLE, MI-A metal stamping company plans to expand in Michigan’s Thumb. Trim Trends says it will invest $7.5 million in the expansion of its 257-employee Deckerville facility. The village of Deckerville recently said it is using a $300,000 Michigan Economic Development Corp. grant and $52,000 in local funds to pay for road improvements to accommodate Trim Trends’ plans.

The Deckerville grant was part of a package of more than $2 million announced by the MEDC to help support a variety of economic efforts, mostly on the west side of the state. The other projects are:

* The city of Iron Mountain will use a $15,000 grant to conduct a marketing analysis and planning study. The results of the year-long study will be used to identify the market areas of the downtown district,analyze the existing businesses and examine the demographics of the area in order to attract new business and jobs. Iron Mountain will contribute $15,000 to the project.
