Ken Krasnow, C&W executive managing director and New York area leader, says bringing the pair on board will enhance C&W's retail services. "We have contributed a great deal of our resources to establish a preeminent, innovative retail services capability in the US, and the addition of executives as accomplished as these two is a great vote of confidence in how far we've come in such a short period of time."

This move comes just a month after Susan Kurland jumped from Cushman to CBRE. At that time, Krasnow said C&W was looking to build up "a strong national retail group and will be moving in an aggressive platform." The local retail group currently has approximately 15 brokers.

"Brad and David are good friends," says a CBRE spokesperson in response to the pair's move. "We wish them well in trying to rebuild the retail group at Cushman & Wakefield. With Andrew Goldberg, Jedd Nero, Bob Gibson, David LaPierre, Susan Kurland and others, the CBRE retail group will continue to set the standard in the New York area."

In 2000, Mendelson and Green were co-recipients of the Real Estate Board of New York's Most Creative Retail Deal of the Year Award for negotiating the 105,000-sf lease for the Toys "R" Us store in Times Square. "We wanted to be a part of the growth and to help make a strong team in New York the leading retail services team in New York," says Mendelson. Green cites Cushman's "international strength through its European operations. We can utilize to help our clients anywhere in the world."
