Among the companies in the proposed Greater Southwest Industrial PMD are Kraft/Nabisco Biscuit Co.; Tootsie Roll Industries; Cupid Candies; and Morand Beverage Co. Although it only includes 120 acres, the proposed Harlem PMD is home to 45 companies employing 1,600. GE Mathis Co.; Hinckley Springs; International Paper; Prism Corp.; Spring Air Midwest; and Thompson Steel Polishing Co. are among those who have long set up shop.
The city council is reviewing the two planned manufacturing districts, giving the city 14, which were proposed by Mayor Richard M. Daley.
