Redstone Development of Spring Lake is developing the property. Redstone president Ross Pope says construction on a new Ace Hardware store should begin within two weeks and be completed for a spring opening.

Pope says negotiations are continuing for other retailers who could occupy a building being considered east of the proposed hardware. Potential tenants include a coffee shop, a hair salon, a wine shop and a picture framing business.

The buildings are going on a portion of 17 acres surrounding the former 120,000-sf Harbor Steel building. For years, the building and property were used by Anderson-Bolling Corp.

G.A. Richards Co. furniture manufacturing this summer purchased the Harbor Steel site and Redstone ultimately will be the developer and owner. Pope says he wants to call his new development East VillageCenter.
