City Considers New State Police Complex

LANSING, MI-Developers are pushing the city to allow them to build a new State Police headquarters on the southeast corner or Kalamazoo Street and Grand Avenue.

LANSING, MI-Local developers Gary Granger and Joel Ferguson are pushing to build a new Michigan State Police complex on the southeast corner or Kalamazoo Street and Grand Avenue. But city officials remain leery, arguing they’ll only approve such if some residential aspect is also included in the project.

“We’re encouraging housing. That’s going to make this city viable, that’s what’s going to bring the Downtown back,” city Councilwoman Sandy Allen says. The proposed “Triangle” project is expected to bring 600 workers into Downtown, while bringing the city more than $13 million in property taxes, and about $200,000 in income tax revenue.
