Dow Gets $5M Credit for Brownfield Project

MIDLAND, MI-Dow Chemical plans to rehabilitate its Saran Products suspension facility, where resin has been produced since 1939, with a $4.5-million tax credit from the state.

MIDLAND, MI-The Michigan Economic Development Corp. has approved a brownfield Single Business Tax Credit valued at more than $4.5 million to support Dow Chemical’s $45.1 million brownfield revitalization project. Dow Chemical plans to rehabilitate parts of its manufacturing facilities in Midland.

Dow plans to use the SBT credit to upgrade obsolete buildings and infrastructure within its Saran Products suspension facility and modernize its resin manufacturing production capabilities. “Saran resin was invented at our site in 1939 and has been manufactured here since,” says Don Taylor vice president of Dow’s Michigan operations. “This investment is a strong sign that the hard work to make our site competitive for new business is starting to pay off.”
