SIMI VALLEY, CA-Thirty new tenants have signed for space in the 800,0000-sf Simi Valley Town Center under development by Forest City and two firms from San Diego, including seven stores that will be new to Ventura County. The regional shopping venue, which is due to open in October 2005, is being built along Highway 118 between First Street and Erringer Road and will be anchored by Macy's and Robinsons-May.The 30 new stores and restaurants that have agreed to enter the center will be among 114 specialty shops and restaurants planned for the center. Among the new tenants that have signed that are new to the county are American Eagle Outfitters, Coldwater Creek, Jos. A. Bank Clothiers, lucy, New York & Co., No Fear and Hollister Co. The other new tenants include Abercrombie & Fitch, Red Robin, Academy Optical, Bath and Body Works, The Body Shop, Brookstone, EB Games, Express, Fashion Nail & Day Spa, Finish Line, Fragrenza, Gymboree, Haagen Dazs, Hallmark, Jamba Juice, Journeys, Lenscrafters, Pacific Sunwear, Picture People, Quizno's, Starbucks Coffee, Victoria's Secret and Zales. The new center is being developed by Forest City West, the Los Angeles-based real estate development arm of Cleveland's Forest City Enterprises, along with Simi Valley Town Center LLC, which is composed of The Corti Gilchrist Partnership LLC, and The Finley Group LLC of San Diego. It is the first new regional shopping complex to be developed in Ventura County in more than 25 years and will serve a trade area where demographics have changed significantly over the past decade. The primary trade area population is expected to reach 275,000 by mid-2005, with the annual average household income among that group approaching $105,000. The shopping center is part of a 1.5 million-sf mixed-use project located on a 129-acre site that will include a home improvement section and a 500-unit luxury apartment complex. The home improvement section is known as Town & Country and will be anchored by Lowe's and a second big box home products retailer. The apartment complex, developed by national apartment builder JPI, will open in phases, beginning in August, 2005.
