The funding includes about $9.2 million for construction of a 65-unit residence and about $2.2 million for consolidation and expansion of aservice station and store, says US Senators Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow. The House Armed Services Committee has not yet approved the projects.
The lodging facility would provide accommodations for military families, personnel on temporary duty and guests. Currently, guests at the Macomb County base stay at facilities that were built in 1930 and 1951 or at hotels in the surrounding area.
The new convenience store would incorporate expanded retail space with a car wash and fuel pumps.
