HOUSTON-Four members of Weingarten Realty Investors' management team have advanced within the REIT to take on broader roles.
Stephen C. Richter will hold onto his CFO role and gets the added title of executive vice president. Johnny L. Hendrix has been promoted to executive vice president of asset management while Scott Morway, regional director, and Mark D. Stout, associate general counsel, add vice president to their nameplates.
According to Tracy Pursell, Weingarten's investor relations director, the personnel changes will be most evident with Hendrix. "While he used to be responsible for leasing, now he is responsible for leasing and property management," she tells GlobeSt.com. "He's definitely taking on a broader role within the company as far as his responsibilities. But that role is still being defined." Additionally, she says it's possible that Hendrix could be named COO, a job that doesn't exist at this time in the REIT's structuring.
Richter and Hendrix were part of Weingarten's upper-level executive team prior to the promotions. Richter, who joined Weingarten in 1980, has held various financial management positions, including controller and treasurer. He was named to the CFO position in 2000. Hendrix, with 23 years' experience in the shopping center industry, joined Weingarten as a leasing executive in 1986. He was promoted to vice president in 1994 and senior vice president and director of leasing in 1999.
