But now the agency will get $220,000 from Flint this fiscal year--the same amount funded in years past and that represents about 15% of the alliance's annual $1.5-million budget.
"We're willing to invest in this economic development group in order to make this city a better place," says Joe Conroy, Flint's governmental operations director, who added that the agency will continue to assist the city's economic development efforts. Williamson was unavailable for comment, but approved the decision, Conroy adds.
"I look forward to working with the city and hopefully we'll continue to earn the mayor's confidence," says Bill Winiarski, the chairman of the alliance's board.
