City Stays in Economic Development Agency

FLINT, MI-Mayor Don Williamson drops his threat to take the city out of the Flint-Genesee Economic Growth Alliance, and the city agrees to pay $220,000 to help fund the $1.5-million budget.

FLINT, MI-After a six-month review, Mayor Don Williamson is keeping this industrial city in the Flint-Genesee Economic Growth Alliance. Williamson previously had threatened to end the city’s ties to economic development agency, criticizing the agency’s capacity to bring and retain jobs and to work with the city on economic development projects.

But now the agency will get $220,000 from Flint this fiscal year–the same amount funded in years past and that represents about 15% of the alliance’s annual $1.5-million budget.
