The 3,800-sf store sells products that range in price from $369 for a 13-inch unit to $14,999 for a 65-inch plasma set. For sale are 50 different types of televisions made by companies such as JVC, Pioneer, Sharp and others. HDTV Warehouse also offers delivery and installation.

The founder and CEO of the company is John Mlynski, president of Gateway Country from 1998 to 2000. That chain grew to 191 units, but the parent company shut all of them last year.

Mlynski told GSR he would like to grow HDTV Warehouse, but on a smaller scale. "I want to grow, but I want to grow prudently," he said. Orange was chosen for the first store not only because it is close to the company's Westport, CT headquarters, but it is part of a large retail corridor that includes many different big-box stores as well as a Westfield Group-owned regional mall, Mlynski said.

When the company does start to grow, Mlynski said he would like to start the roll out in the Northeast. Since the stores don't have very large size requirements the firm is would consider a wide-range of real estate options, from streetfronts to high-end malls.

Mlynski said the company has potential to grow because of the popularity of the high-end television market. A Consumer Electronics Association released in November said plasma- and large-screen TV's were two of the three most sought after holiday gifts.
