HDTV Chain Opens First Unit

ORANGE, CT-HDTV Warehouse hopes to capitalize on the growing demand for high-end televisions. Company plans slow roll out.

ORANGE, CT-A new specialty retail concept is looking to cash in on one of the hottest consumer electronics products on the market – HDTV’s. A former executive with Gateway Country, the former retail chain owned by the computer manufacturer, has opened his first HDTV Warehouse in this New Haven suburb.

The 3,800-sf store sells products that range in price from $369 for a 13-inch unit to $14,999 for a 65-inch plasma set. For sale are 50 different types of televisions made by companies such as JVC, Pioneer, Sharp and others. HDTV Warehouse also offers delivery and installation.

The founder and CEO of the company is John Mlynski, president of Gateway Country from 1998 to 2000. That chain grew to 191 units, but the parent company shut all of them last year.
