And, he says, 2005 will bring a $2.6-million makeover to the dealership.Plans call for tearing the front of the dealership off and building a new showroom by next year, expanding the main building by up to 24,000 sf of new administrative offices and display area.

Frost says the dealership, at 12000 S. Telegraph Rd., also will move its used car lot to the north side of the 14.5-acre property and build a new facility for used car sales. Frost, who also owns Southfield Chrysler Jeep, and co-owner Gary Wood purchased the dealership from AutoNation Inc. last month. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Aside from his two Chrsyler Jeep dealerships, Frost also owns Genesee Valley Dodge in Flint, Detroit Hummer in Southfield and Hummer of Novi. He says the current wave of ownership changes in dealershipsthroughout southeastern Michigan has more to do with dealers retiring and an improving economy than slumping sales.

"It looks like the economy is on an upswing, and if you haven't bought your dealership by now, it's going to cost too much two years from now," Frost adds. "We try to buy on the upturns and try to hit that sweet spot."
