University of Phoenix Expands in Detroit Area

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI-The University of Phoenix takes 20,000 sf in the River Edge Corporate Center to open a new campus in Macomb County. Enrollment is envisioned as high as 1,000.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI-Clinton Township will soon be home to another institution of higher education. The University of Phoenix says it will occupy 20,000 sf of a building now under construction at the River Edge Corporate Center on Hall Road, near Romeo Plank.

The building is expected to be completed in April or May, with the university to move in immediately thereafter, says Ted Blashak, vicepresident for Michigan for school. “We have already started our faculty recruitment for the new location,” Blashak adds.

U-P has been offering classes at the Best Western Sterling Inn and currently has 138 students enrolled in programs there. Blashak says while it is difficult to make an exact prediction on future enrollments at the new Clinton Township location, he expects 500 to 1,000 students to be enrolled there in a few years.
