Dow Investing $100M in Industrial Operations

MIDLAND, MI-Dow Automotive plans to expand its operations in its hometown of more than 100 years with a two-phase project estimated to take six years.

MIDLAND, MI-Dow Automotive says it will spend about $100 million over the next four years to expand and renovate its operations here. The two-phase project will begin this year with the demolition of outdated structures, renovation of used and abandoned buildings, addition of new construction and installation of equipment to make adhesives and sealants for the automotive industry.

The first phase will be on line in 2007, employing 79 workers. Phase II of the project involves capital spending on renovation and construction of a plant for the manufacture of automotive filters. The second phase will add 30 employees, with startup planned for late 2009.
