CarrAmerica's Donovan Plans Retirement

WASHINGTON, DC-A shift in leadership is in the works at leading office REIT CarrAmerica. Industry veteran John J. Donovan Jr. is planning to retire from the company after three decades, and is now in the process of easing out of his position as senior managing director. Donovan will work through May helping Phillip S. Thomas Jr., currently senior vice president for leasing, step into the directorial role, and will continue to work with the company throughout the rest of the year.Donovan became managing director in the summer of 1999 and also served as president of Carr Real estate Services Inc. between 1999 and 2002. In 1986 he hired DC native Thomas. Thomas’s ascension and Donovan’s gradual entrée into the world of retirement will hardly happen overnight.”There is a 30-year relationship between the company and John,” a CarrAmerica spokesperson tells GlobeSt.com. “The transition won’t be abrupt; it will be fluid and seamless. We hope to maintain a close personal and professional relationship with John.”
