ZF manufacturers driveline and chassis systems for the auto industry. ZF built its Northville technical center in 2001 and expanded it to 248,000 sf recently. The company's former headquarters was in Florence, KY, just south of Cincinnati.
The company will continue to operate three manufacturing plants in the Cincinnati region, company spokesman Wolfgang Schmid says. ZF Group opened its North American headquarters in Florence, KY during the summer of 1997. Schmid says that over the past 15 months, the company has been consolidating its North American operations to itsfacility in Northville in conjunction with the arrival of the company's new president Julio Caspari, who is based in the Detroit area.
"We have to follow our customer," Schmid says. "It depends where the Toyotas and the Mercedes and the GM and Fords are going. Wherever they go, we have to go."
