U-M Seeks Proposals For Stadium Upgrade

ANN ARBOR, MI-The University of Michigan says it plans to renovate the 107,501-seat Michigan Stadium, now considered physically and functionally obsolete. It was built in 1927 at a cost of $950,000.

ANN ARBOR, MI-There could be big changes coming to the Big House. The University of Michigan is asking architectural firms for proposals for a possible upgrade to the school’s 107,501-seat football arena as the school considers how to renovate 78-year-old Michigan Stadium.

University of Michigan sports information director Bruce Madej says the 78-year-old Michigan Stadium is in need of being brought up to date. The school has not yet decided exactly how that should be done and is soliciting ideas from architectural firms for renovation proposals.

Changes to the facility could include a new press box, enclosed seating and additional restrooms, he adds.
