"This is a great relief," says deputy mayor Mike Greiner. "This has been years coming. In terms of getting this property developed, we've been waiting a long time."
A 200,000-sf-plus Meijer's and an office building are among the buildings planned for the land that was long owned by General Motors. The property is across Mound Road from GM's Technical Center.
The planned development consists of a variety of residential and commercial sites, including:
- 203 single family homes
- 244 duplex condominiums
- "Four-plexes" with a total of 204 condominiums
- "Twelve-plexes," totaling 312 units
- An office building
- A gasoline station
Construction will begin this spring.
