Gander Signs Leases for Eight New Stores

MINNEAPOLIS-The company has plans for 10 to 14 outdoor sporting goods stores this year. All of the stores will be 55,000 sf or larger. One store, in Duluth, is replacing a smaller, older store.

MINNEAPOLIS-Gander Mountain Co., the outdoor sporting goods store based here, has signed leases for eight new outdoor lifestyle specialty stores, including one in Duluth, to open in the spring of 2005. Gander Mountain is a specialty retailer catering to outdoor lifestyle enthusiasts with a particular focus on hunting, fishing and camping.

The company plans to open from 18 to 22 new stores this year, including the eight this spring. “The Duluth store replaces a smaller store in response to strong customer demand for our products and services,” says Mark Baker, president and chief executive officer of Gander Mountain.
