Real Mex Foods Inks 56,000-SF Warehouse Lease

UNION CITY, CA-The Los Angeles-based Mexican restaurant chain that last fall launched a line of frozen foods has leased a freezer and dry storage warehouse that will handle all of its Northern California distribution needs.

UNION CITY, CA-Real Mex Foods of Los Angeles recently leased 56,000 sf of cooler/freezer and dry storage warehouse space here from Central Plaza LLC. The five-year lease is valued at more than $1.3 million.Real Mex Foods is a 50-year-old business that creates food for Mexican restaurants under the brand names Acapulco, El Torito and Chevy’s. In October, the company announced its first line of consumer frozen foods, which includes burritos, enchiladas and tamales.The company’s newly leased facility is located at 33580 Central Ave. The space was previously occupied by Metropolitan Foods. The space will be used to handle all of Real Mex Foods’ Northern California distribution needs, according to the company’s real estate broker, Craig Hagglund of Lee & Associates East Bay Inc. Bob Ferraro and Richey Keely of Colliers International of Pleasanton represented the building owner.
