NEW YORK CITY-Seattle-based retailer Sur La Table adds Manhattan to its menu by leasing 10,000 sf of space at 75 Spring St. in SoHo for 10 years. The store is expected to open in July.

The culinary supply retailer, which markets to both the professional chef and home cook, has one store on Long Island and two in New Jersey. A 6,000-sf location in the Livingston Town Center in Livingston, NJ is expected to open in summer 2006. In total, the chain has 40 locations nationwide. In many, culinary programs are offered.

Located on the corner of Spring Street and Crosby Street, the space Sur Le Table will take on is currently occupied by furniture designer George Smith, who will move all operations to the adjoining building at 73 Spring. Sur Le Table acquired the remaining five years on George Smith's lease. Financial details of the lease were not available; however, retail rents in SoHo averaged $179 per sf last year, according to the Retail Board of New York's annual fall retail report.
