The Las Vegas-based firm recently acquired technology through several agreements with NASA to develop Genesis Pathfinder, the first inflatable space station created for commercial uses. The product's test launch is scheduled for later this year.

Situated on 4.8 acres at 12130 Highway 3 across from Ellington Field, the building is Bigelow Aerospace's first location in the Houston area. The building was sold by Plano-based Beal Bank after it foreclosed on the property last year.

The building was constructed in the mid-1980s as part of Northrop Grumman Corp.'s aerospace campus, according to Rob Stillwell, an industrial broker with Grubb & Ellis Co.'s Houston office. He and Doyle Toups represented Beal Bank in the transaction.

Stillwell tells GlobeSt.com that the building received six offers during an eight-month run on the market due to its quality construction. "The building is a well built to government specifications with tilt-wall construction rather than pre-fabricated steel," he says. "It's well suited for the aerospace industry." It's also outfitted with 10-, 15- and 30-ton cranes. According to Stillwell, Bigelow Aerospace made the highest offer and paid cash for the property.
