216-Room Hotel Will Be Part of Mixed-Use Complex

BETHESDA, MD-A Hilton Garden Inn has been marked for development at the Air Rights Center, a 700,000-sf multi-structure office and retail property on Montgomery Avenue, now that the Donohoe Cos. has joined forces with complex owner TIAA-CREF to build the 216-room hotel. The two parties just recently submitted plans for the property to Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission.

The lodging facility, which will likely cost an estimated $40 million, will be the first hotel built in the city’s central business district in more than two decades. The goal is to open the hotel in 2007.
